Nation pays homage to Peshawar school martyrs

ISLAMABAD: Countrywide ceremonies were arranged to commemorate the martyrs of the barbaric terrorists’ attack on Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16 that left 150 people dead, most of them children, ARY News reported Friday.

The dastardly incident forged  unity among the nation, including political and military leadership, against terrorism.

Addressing a gathering in Islamabad to mark the day, Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed said the entire nation was on one page against terrorism.

He said the government, parliament, judiciary, armed forces and media were united to fight terrorism. He said terrorists would not be allowed to occupy Pakistani soil.

A special ceremony was held in Peshawar at which PAF jets presented fly past over the Army Public School. PAF chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt appreciated the courage and valor demonstrated by the students and the teaching staff.

He said the PAF is playing a vital role in Operation Zarb-e Azb to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

Pakistan government has strengthened its offensive against the Taliban since the Peshawar attack, ending its six-year-old moratorium on the death penalty in terror cases.
