Nawaz calls report on major power breakdown

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned the technical report of the major power breakdown in the country within 48 hours, ARY News reported on Monday.

A high level meeting on the power crisis in the country was held here with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in chair.

Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar and Water and Power Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif attended the meeting.

The prime minister was informed that a terrorism incident caused the transmission line fault wich was resulted in major power breakdown in the country.

The premier was informed that the situation was now improving.

Nawaz Sharif directed for effective measure to avoid such incidents in future by a comprehensive system and safeguards.

The prime minister also directed for the steps to ensure security of the power transmission lines.

The country descended into darkness on Saturday night after a power transmission tower was blown up by saboteurs in Naseerabad district of Balochistan.

The prime minister also discussed measures with federal ministers to tackle the power crisis in the country.
