Nawaz says sit-ins in Islamabad failed

NEW YORK: Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif met Vice President of the United States Joe Biden in New York and discussed with him about the matters of mutual interest, ARY News reports.

Sources reported that Nawaz Sharif thanked Joe Biden for the US cooperation during the ongoing political crisis in Pakistan.

He said that that the sit-ins in Islamabad have failed and the government has taken control of the situation. The Pakistani premier also said that that only two to three thousand people participate in the protests and expected to leave soon for their homes.

“The nation has rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leaders Imran Khan and Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri”, Sharif told Biden.

“No Prime Minister can be shown the door without completing his constitutional term. Demanding for resignation of a prime minister is a joke”, he added.

He expressed his optimism that United States will keep extending their support to his government in the future as well.
