Sharif has just returned from an official visit to Tajikistan where he had gone to inaugurate the CASA-1000 energy project. Sources said that he has been pressured by close aides to address the parliament but avoid any questions over the Panama Papers.

The opposition has started gathering its members in the lobby of the Parliament House.

Earlier, leaders of various political parties were speaking to the media outside Parliament House. They said that a strategy has also been devised provided if the prime minister refuses to answer the questions raised by them.

Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said that they do not intend to surprise the premier when he visits the parliament. He urged the premier to ‘change his attitude’ and respond to the queries.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the government had no answer over the questions which they raised.

“It is against the spirit of democracy when the premier is not even answerable to the parliament which elected him to the office,” he added.
