NEPRA slashes power tariffs by Rs. 2.97 per unit

ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has slashed power tariffs by Rs. 2.97 per unit, ARY News reports on Friday.

NEPRA made the decision after hearing a petition filed by Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) seeking decrease in per unit power rates.

The prices have been reduced due to fuel adjustment for the month of November.

The revised rates will be not be applicable for the consumers of K-Electric. The nation will receive relief of Rs. 17 billion due to the reduction in power tariffs.

According to NEPRA officials, the rates were slashed due to the reduction of crude oil and furnace prices in the world market.

It should be noted Prime Minister had already announced that the power rates would be brought down.
