New CEC to be named after consensus, says Shah

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said the prime minister had sought name of new chief election commissioner, which would be decided with consultation of all stake holders, ARY News reported Tuesday.

Shah said he had a talk with the prime minister regarding appointment of CEC. Names of the CEC will be sent to the Election Commission after consultations with all political parties, he added.

He informed that prime minister would also recommend two names for the post. In case a consensus on names could not be developed the committees of government and the opposition will recommend two names each for the CEC, said Shah.
