New chiefs of armed forces vow to defend motherland

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee-designate General Zubair Mahmood Hayat and Chief of Army Staff-designate General Qamar Javed Bajwa separately called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad last evening.   

The Prime Minister congratulated both the generals on their promotions.

The Prime Minister said General Zubair Mahmood Hayat and General Qamar Javed Bajwa, after taking charge of their new responsibilities, will continue serving the country in the best way and come up to the nation’s expectations.

General Zubair Mahmood Hayat and General Qamar Javed Bajwa thanked the Prime Minister, and said Pakistan’s defense is invincible. They said armed forces will not hesitate to render any sacrifice for defence of the motherland.

Lt. General Qamar Javed Bajwa is currently working as Inspector General of the Training and Evaluation at the General Headquarters. He has also commanded the Army’s 10 Corps. He belongs to the infantry’s Baloch Regiment.

Lt. General Zubair Mahmood Hayat has served as Director General of Strategic Plans Division and Corps Commander Bahawalpur. Presently, he is working as Chief of General Staff at the General Headquarters.
