New PTF President vows to lift Tennis to new heights

Karachi: Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) newly appointed President Salim Saifullah Khan has vowed to uplift the game of tennis, which is presently a feeble sport in the country.

Addressing to media along with Senior Vice President Saeed Hai and Secretary Khalid Rehmani, Salim, who is a politician, said that he would use his connections to generate funds for tennis.

“I will ask my friends to come forward and lend a helping hand to lift tennis in the country,” he said here on Monday at Karachi Gymhkana.

He added that the first tournament the newly elected PTF setup would organize would be her mother’s memorial tournament.

“We will organize the inaugural Begum Kulsoom Memorial National Tennis Championship from January 3-10 at PTF Complex in Islamabad, in which top national players will compete,” he said.

He added that the first assignment of PTF would be to find the best young players aging from 14 to 18 years from the country and they would organize intensive training for them

“When after four years we leave, you will see at least top  20 new national players and hopefully at least four to five will be able to perform well at international level,” ambitious Salim said.
