The main function of Facebook Lite, a new version of the social media app available on Android, will be to provide a ‘reliable’ Facebook experience when bandwidth will be at a minimum.
Since many people around the world use Facebook on a range of mobile devices and various networks, their Facebook activity is sometimes hampered due to weak network access. Hence, Facebook Lite will remedy this issue and will provide all Facebook functionality even when the network is operating at minimum capacity.
Facebook Lite will take a short amount of time to download, since its size is 1MB only. News Feed, status updates, photos, notifications and more functions that are currently on Facebook will be available on Facebook Lite as well. From today, Facebook Lite will be available in countries across Asia and then in the coming weeks, in Latin America, Europe and Africa.
