KARACHI/LAHORE/PESHAWAR: A new wave of winter has gripped the country which witnessed rain, snowfall and heavy winds nationwide.

There was heavy rainfall in Lahore on Saturday, while strong winds are observed in Karachi which has also brought back winter for the people of city.

Various parts of Balochistan and Khyber Paktunkhwa as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir received snowfall including Galiyat, Ayubia Nathiagali and Thandiani.

There was heavy rainfall in Murree, and the main highway leading to Abbotabad along with several others roads has been blocked due to the snowfall there.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country.

Rain thunderstorm is forcast a number of places in KP, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan, and intermittent rain is expected in Upper Punjab including Islamabad.

Isolated heavy rain and snow is expected in Malakand and Hazara division, while foggy conditions are likely over the plain areas in KP, Punjab and Upper Sindh.

Chitral witnessed the heaviest rainfall of 64mm and 1.5ft snow. The lowest temperature was recorded in Parachinar at minus six, while Skardu and Malamjaba saw temperature two degree below zero.
