KARACHI: City administration has imposed a ban on visiting sea view, making special arrangements for traffic for Saturday night in light of New Year Eve.

All routes leading to sea view will be blocked and section-144 – which forbids the gathering of four or more people at any public place – has been imposed in the adjoining areas, officials said.

Security in the city has been tightened in order to prevent any untoward incidents with the deployment of policemen across Karachi.

Residents of DHA and sea view will be allowed to move in the area only after showing their computerised national identity cards (CNICs), said the city administration officials.

To reach their destinations, residents in the areas have been advised to use routes and diversions mentioned below to reach their destinations:

Traffic movement from Akhtar Colony towards sea view will not be allowed on New Year’s Eve. Vehicular traffic coming from Korangi area will be turned towards Sharah-e-Faisal.

Road leading towards US Consulate General Karachi from KPT Bridge will be closed at 9 p.m. on Saturday night. Likewise, routes will be completely closed for traffic from Boat Basin Chowrangi to Bilawal Chowrangi.

All heavy traffic coming from Korangi Industrial area will be diverted towards National Highway to proceed towards Northern Bypass and onward.

The use of vehicles or motorcycles without silencers has been prohibited and any vehicle found travelling without them will be confiscated and handed over to local police for legal action.
