New Zealand warm up for Tests in UAE

TOP NEWS

The Black Caps made sure all their frontline bowlers got a good taste of the placid Sharjah pitch as Pakistan ‘A’ scored 153-3 in their second innings on the final day.

Pace spearheads Doug Bracewell and Neil Wagner bowled 30 overs between them to get a taste of unresponsive pitches in the United Arab Emirates, managing just a wicket apiece.

Haris Sohail (40) and Babar Zaman (34), who both scored hundreds in Pakistan ‘A’ win over Australia in the four-day match two weeks ago, added 69 for the unfinished fourth wicket stand.

Abid Ali made 33 while Sami Aslam scored 31.

Pakistan ‘A’ had made 215 in their first innings to which New Zealand replied with 244-8 declared.

New Zealand and Pakistan play the first Test in Abu Dhabi from Sunday.

The remaining two Tests are in Dubai (November 17-21) and Sharjah (November 26-30).

They also play two Twenty20 and five one-day internationals. -AFP
