Talking to ARY News, Waris said his car was surrounded by unknown men near the Teen Hatti area of the metropolis.
“I was not in the car but the manner in which they surrounded the vehicle makes me think that they thought I was inside,” said Waris.
According to Waris, his associates were travelling in the car to drops his guard off in Ancholi.
He said, “They were about to open fire but my guard opened fire upon them, forcing them to flee from the area.”
Earlier on Wednesday, renowned qawwal, Amjad Sabri was gunned down after unknown assailants opened fired at his vehicle in the Liaquatabad area of Karachi.
Sabri, 40, along with an associate were travelling in a car in Liaquatabad No. 10, when unknown men fired at his vehicle. As a result, he was badly injured. He was later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
