Non-bailable arrest warrants for over 20 MQM leaders issued

The warrants were issued for senior MQM leaders including Dr. Farooq Sattar, Rasheed Godal, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Salman Mujahid.

The court issued arrest warrants against the leaders in five different cases.

The ATC furthered ordered police to produce them before the court. However, Khwaja Izharul Hassan and Qamar Mansoor had turned up before the court for bail, while Rauf Siddiqui and Waseem Akhtar could not be brought in the hearing.

The judge also expressed his resentment on law enforcement agencies for failing to produce challan in eight difference cases and served notice on the investigation officer.

The court adjourned the hearing till August 23.

The MQM leaders were accused of delivering and facilitating anti-Pakistan speeches as well as inciting violence. The MQM leaders had attended a public gathering and listened to party chief Altaf Hussain’s diatribe against security agencies on July 12 last year.

In September last year, the ATC had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for MQM chief Altaf Hussain in the criminal intimidation case registered on the complaint of Colonel Tahir Mehmood of Sindh Rangers.
