England thrash Pakistan by 330 runs to level series

England won the toss and chose to take guard.

The hosts declared at 589/8 in the first innings with Joe Root being the top scorer with 254 runs from 406 deliveries with the help of 27 boundaries.

Chris Woakes and Jonny Bairstow made 58 runs each with the batin the first innings for the English side.

Wahab Riaz took three wickets for Pakistan while Mohammad Amir and Rahat Ali dismissed two English batsmen in the first innings.

Pakistan, in their first innings, were bowled out after scoring 198 runs. Misbah-ul-Haq top was the top scorer as he made 52 runs from 114 balls with four boundaries to his name.

Shan Masood and Wahab Riaz scored 39 runs each in Pakistan’s first innings.

The hosts declared their second innings with 173/1 on the board, setting a massive target of 565 runs for Pakistan to win.

Alastair Cook and Joe Root remained unbeaten after scoring 76 and 71 runs respectively for the English side.

The green shirts were back in the pavilion with 234 runs on the scoreboard.

Mohammad Hafeez was the highest scorer for Pakistan in the run chase as he made 42 runs from 72 balls after hitting seven fours and a maximum.

Asad Shafiq and Misbah-ul-Haq contributed 39 and 35 runs with the blade for Pakistan in the second innings.

English pacers James Anderson, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes got three wickets for the side whereas Joe Root dismissed one Pakistani batsman.

The four-match series is tied 1-1. The third test match will be played from 3rd August to 7th August at Birmingham.
