One held after suspicious car escapes from Peshawar motorway

ISLAMABAD: One person was arrested after Motorway Police fired at a suspicious vehicle which failed to stop at  check post on the motorway, ARY News reported on Sunday.

The police was alerted after suspicious activity in a car carrying two men and a woman and some weapons. However, the vehicle refused to stop at a U-turn on the M1 Motorway which leads to Peshawar.

Police fired aerial shots and chased the vehicle, after which one man climbed off the car and fired at the police. He has been arrested and is questioned by the police officials.

The arrested suspect identified as Mujahid revealed during initial interrogation that the driver of the car was his friend named Khan Muhammad.

The car reportedly turned on the link-road to Nowshera after which police alerted the district administration. A search operation has been launched to arrest them.
