The clash occurred in the Nakial bazaar area of Kotli as a PPP procession was enroute to their convention venue, which is scheduled to be held today.
The workers of the two parties proceeded to pelt stones at each other. Policemen while trying to control the situation resorted to shelling resulting in the death of a PPP worker while three others were injured, reports said.
The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Kotli.
Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto has condemned the death of a party worker in the clash.
In a statement the PPP leader has said that the attack on the party’s procession exposes dictatorial thinking of the PML-N.
He called the incident a result of the provoking speeches of the PML-N ministers. He said the party inlvolved in negative politics would also be also affected from it.
The elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir region are expected in summer this year.
