Opposition agrees on ‘terms of references’, but divided over PM’s resignation

The main feature of the TORs state that the proposed judicial commission must investigate allegations of Panama Papers against PM’s children within three months.

Speaking to media here, PPP senator Aitzaz Ahsan said there was no consensus neither difference among opposition parties over resignation of the prime minister.

He said the Opposition had formulated terms of references for judicial commission to investigate Panama leaks.

He said all those who are named in the Panama Papers should be probed. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi says his party wont back out from its demand on PM’s resignation.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had pledged to resign if a probe related to the Panama Papers tax scandal found his family had committed any wrongdoing.

Three of Sharif’s four children are named in the Panama Papers — daughter Maryam, who has been tipped to be his political successor, and sons Hasan and Hussain — with the records showing they owned London real estate through offshore companies administered by Mossack Fonseca.

The leaked papers, comprising 11.5 million documents from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca, exposes how some of the world’s most powerful people have secreted their money offshore, and also implicated Sharif’s sons Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.
