Opposition jirga, Zardari discuss solution to political impasse

The co-chairperson of the PPP was briefed on the progress of talks in Islamabad to defuse the political tension. Zaradri said untiy among democratic forces was now the need of the hour.

Speaking to media after the meeting, Jamaat-e-Islami emir Sirajul Haq said all political parties should work stability of the country.

Siraj said that such a formula had been discussed that would be a win-win for both the democracy and the protesters in Islamabad.

Amid the meeting, a firing incident occurred outside Bilawal House that stirred panic and fear in the neighbourhood. The firing occurred in parking lot of a nearby hotel. Two people were killed in the wake of gunfire.

Earlier talking to media at Karachi airport, former interior minister Rehman Malik said both the sides should set aside their egotism and negotiate in better interest of the country. If such a situation persists, the authorities will be compelled to place two more containers outside Senate and Parliament House.

He also strongly condemned the killing Shia leader Allama Abbas Kumaili’s son in Karachi and demanded that culprits be brought to book.
