Imran said for the sake of the Orange Line project, slums were being demolished. Imran also said he would go to Lahore the next week as a show of support and solidarity for residents of these slums. He also disclosed that the route of the whole project was changed in order to protect one minister’s house.

Meanwhile, protests took place by the residents of Harbanspura against purchasing land for a nominal amount, which was in fact worth millions. The residents demanded the rightful amount as payment otherwise they would not let the government construct the Orange Line project.

The Orange Line project has also been much criticised over the past few months by opposition parties in Punjab, including the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI).
