PAC seeks record of LNG quota given in Musharraf’s reign

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday sought from the Ministry of Petroleum the record of companies given liquefied natural gas (LNG) quota in former president Pervez Musharraf’s reign, ARY News reported.

PAC members are of the view that after the Panama Papers disclosures, another storm will erupt over LNG leaks. Who was bestowed with the LNG deals and who made billions, the committee sought details of everything in this regard.

MNA Ashiq Gopang revealed that the national exchequer suffered loss worth Rs 1.22 billion in LNG deals. The PAC also ordered inquiry into corruption at Kunnar oil field.

The committee slammed that some elements in the Ministry of Petroleum are trying to protect corrupt officials.
