According to the press release, the government expressed sorrow at the loss of lives in the Pathankot terrorist attack. This is what the press release stated:-

“Pakistan condemns the terrorist incident in Pathankot, India, today, in which many precious lives have been lost.

We extend heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of India and the bereaved families and wish the wounded speedy and full recovery.

Building on the goodwill created during the recent high level contacts between the two countries, Pakistan remains committed to partner with India as well as other countries in the region to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism afflicting our region.”

The attack comes after some ice had melted between nuclear-armed nations India and Pakistan, when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promptly visited Lahore for some hours, to attend Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s granddaughter’s wedding.

In their unofficial meeting, Nawaz Sharif and Modi had stated their desire to keep meeting informally and in good nature like European leaders did. However, today’s attack in Pathankot, an area which lies close to the border with Pakistan, could prove to be a setback for warming ties between India and Pakistan.
