Yasin Malik, the chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has been in the custody of the Indian Army for more than 105 days.
According to Greater Kashmir, he was referred to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar where he was observed by a team of doctors.
Sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that he had undergone various tests. His arm has been infected and he has been advised by doctors to undergo a surgery.
Earlier, a protest was held in Maisuma, a densely populated locality of Srinagar to demand medical aid for Malik.
However, Indian police used brutal force to disperse protesters including dozens of women. Many witnesses said that police chased them and detained some to break up the protest.
Mashaal Malik, the wife of Yasin Malik fell unconscious after hearing about the frail health of her husband. She was shifted to a local hospital in Islamabad and was discharged later.
She had aggressively raised voice for the condition of her husband and had called on world bodies including the United Nations to take notice of the incident.
