Bringing Imran Farooq’s murderers to justice UK govt’s responsibility, Nisar tells Lord Nazir

LONDON: Talking to Lord Nazir Ahmed in London, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday said that the government of Pakistan has reservations over the issue of founder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain.

“The British government has legal and moral responsibility to bring to justice those perpetrators who murdered a Pakistani national on British soil,” he told Nazir Ahmed who called on him.

Discussing matters concerning Pakistani community in UK, the interior minister said that Pakistani expatriates were an asset for the country and every effort would be made to address their issues on priority basis.

Lord Nazir Ahmed appreciated personal efforts of Nisar in addressing issues concerning Pakistani community.

Separately, Bradford West MP Naz Shah also met with the interior minister at the High Commission for Pakistan, London.

Ms Naz thanked the minister for his personal commitment to the investigation into the murder of British National Samia Shahid. Naz also commended the work of the investigative team, in particular DIG Baksh who the minister appointed personally to oversee the case which led to numerous arrests including that of a senior police officer.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan thanked MP Naz for the commitment she has shown in relation to this case and women’s rights. He said “As I have said previously, the government of Pakistan is committed to bringing justice to those that committed this heinous crime, further more we thank Naz for her continued efforts in relation to the murder of her constituent”

Following the meeting Naz said , “I’m confident with the continued commitment shown that we will get justice for Samia Shahid.”
