Pakistan releases 87 Indian prisoners

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Pakistan on Tuesday released 87 Indian prisoners including 86 fishermen and a civilian through Wagah border crossing, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO).

The FO, in a statement, said that Pakistan is also facilitating the Indian high commission for repatriation of Indian fishermen/civilians.

“We believe that such humanitarian gestures would promote better understanding between the two countries,” it read.

“It is our hope that the Indian side will also reciprocate in a similar manner.”
