Pakistan oppose new permanent members in UNSC

According to Radio Pakistan, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi said that adding new permanent members in the Security Council will serve the interests of few countries.

Lodhi added that Pakistan backs the creation of a new category of member countries not permanent members with longer duration.

She specifically laid emphasis on providing justification for every seat which is included in the UN body as far as its effectiveness and representation was concerned.

Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations that there was consensus to enhance accountability, decision making and transparency of the Security Council.
