Pakistan to defend Asian Hockey Champions Trophy crown in Malaysia

KARACHI: Defending champions Pakistan will leave for Malaysia on Sunday to take part in the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, ARY News reported.

Pakistan will start their campaign against hosts Malaysia on October 20th.

The fourth edition of the tournament will be played from 20th to 30th October 2016 in Malaysian city of Kuantan.

It features six best men’s teams of the continent namely Pakistan, India, Malaysia, South Korea, China and Japan for a battle for continental dominance just before the 2017 Asia Cup.

The six teams will first play against each other in round robin format which will be followed by semi-finals. The final will be played on 30th October.

Pakistan has won the tournament more than any othr team in the continent. The green team beat India 5-4 in the final of the 2012. The side successfully retained the title in 2013 after beating Japan 3-1.
