Pakistan thump Canada 3-1 in Azlan Shah opener

IPOH, MALAYSIA: Pakistan started their 2016 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup on a winning note as they beat Canada 3-1 in the opening match of the tournament played at Malaysia’s city of Ipoh, ARY News reported.

Arslan Qadir scored the first goal for Pakistan in the 27th minute.

Qadir made it 2-0 moments later, capitalizing on a rebound from a penalty corner.

The Canadians pulled a goal back in the 48th minute as Rich Hildreth made it 2-1 but Mohammad Tousiq made it 3-1 in the 52nd minute via penalty corner.

Following the win, Pakistan top the table with three points.
