Pakistan to chair conference on use of conventional weapons
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva Tehmina Janjua will preside the 5th Review Conference of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons.
According to Radio Pakistan, Janjua was elected to chair the conference.
Foreign Office spokesman stated that the unanimous decision was taken at the start of the conference in Geneva.
Pakistan’s election as President of the review conference on conventional weapons endorses the credentials in multilateral diplomacy.
The convention and its protocols deal with prohibition of certain conventional weapons along with balancing humanitarian concerns with their military strength.
