NEW YORK: Pakistan has welcomed the Paris conference on peace process in Middle East, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, speaking in a UN Security Council debate on the crisis in Palestine and Middle East, said that the disputed territory is a sacred land and is the heart of “Arab and Muslim world”.

Lodhi said that the cries of any incident in Palestine, are heard in the whole region. She added, “A reaction should come over the deviation from the international consensus.”

“Organizing Paris conference on the situation in Middle East is a correct step and welcoming,” she said.

Pakistan’s UN envoy stated that the conference has reiterated a two-state solution to the Middle East crisis.

She also said that Pakistan supports the ceasefire agreement in war-torn Syria.
