Kamila Shamsie

Kamila Shamsie the daughter of renowned literary journalist Muneeza Shamsie wrote her first novel ‘In The City By The Sea’ in 1998. The novel earned her enough recognition that within a year she was honored with Prime Minister’s Award for Literature in Pakistan.  The lady has so far written seven novels that includes the popular Salt and Saffron and Kartography. She has also won the Patras Bokhari Award for her novels Kartography and Broken Verses. She is an international acclaimed novelist who got selected as one of Orange’s 21 Writers of the 21st century.

 Mohsin Hamid

Mohsin Hamid is a Pakistani novelist who has got an international recognition by his writing. Mohsin has written three books so far Moth Smoke, Reluctant Fundamentalist and How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia. Moth Smoke got published in 2000 and it became a cult hit in India and Pakistan where people can easily relate to the story, the book was also praised in New York Reviews of Book. The writer’ true success was The Reluctantant Fundamentalist a story of a man who decided to leave America after 9-11 attacks. The book became a best-seller and reached the top 4th niche in New York Times Best Seller. This novel received some awards also like Asian American Literary Award, Anisfield-Wolf Book Award and got shortlisted for Man Booker Prize.  Mohsin Hamid was named in world’s 100 leading Global Thinkers by Foreign Policy in 2013. He also contributes as a journalist in international newspapers like The Guardian, The Washington Post and The New York Times.

Tehmina Durrani

Tehmina Durrani is that bold writer of Pakistan who writes about core issues of the society. Belonging to an elite class, influential family Durrani was never expected to write about the issues she opted. Her first novel My Feudal Lord was her autobiography in which she unveiled the details of her marriage with Ghulam Mustafa Khar a former governor and chief minister of Punjab. This book came out as an instant sensation and became the hottest book in Pakistan’s history. She also wrote a biography called A Mirror to the Blind on the life of Social Activist Abdul Sattar Edhi.Her third book was written on Blasphemy, all three of the books were highly controversial but worth reading. The legendary writer’s fourth thought provoking book Happy Things in Sorrow Times was published in 2003.

Mohammad Hanif 

Mohammad Hanif is a Pakistani journalist and novelist who wrote his first novel in 2008. A Case of Exploding Mangoes was Hanif’s master piece that came up like a cracker in the literary world. Nobody can match up to the way he described the longest Martial Law era of Pakistan in a tale. This book received great appreciation from international literary fraternity. The novel received Commonwealth Book Prize in 2009 and Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize in 2008. After the huge success of his first novel his other books were highly awaited by the readers. His other books are Our Lady of Alice Bhatti and The Baloch who is not missing and the others who are!

 

Fatima Bhutto

Fatima Bhutto is a new writing sensation of the country. The scion of Bhutto Dynasty is more active in politics by her writing rather than being affiliated with any political party. The lady is a Pakistani poet and writer. She has written four books so far. Her first book was a collection of poetry called Whispers in the Desert. Her second book 8:50 a.m. 8 October 2005 was written on the account of Kashmir earthquake. This book earned her notable coverage in international arena. The Shadow of the Crescent Moon which was published in 2013 was her fiction debut.
