Pakistani taxi driver in Sharjah honoured for returning 1.7 mn dirhams

SHARJAH: A Pakistani taxi driver in Sharjah who found 1.7 million dirhams in the back of his cab has received praise and honoured for helping return the money to its owner.

Naseerallah Sher Dola who works as a taxi driver found the money in a briefcase along with important documents. They belonged to an East Asian businessman whom he had picked from the airport.

He spotted the briefcase left at the back of his cab and drove back to airport and notified the taxi office. They contacted the police who tracked down the businessman and returned the briefcase to him.

Dola was presented with a certificate of gratitude and an unspecified financial reward.

Director Sharjah Road and Transport Authority Abdulaziz Al Jarwan said that said taxi drivers are applauded and honoured for their honesty.

He said that Dola was an excellent example of a dedicated taxi driver. “We always honour our dedicated staff members, and we encourage other drivers to follow suit,” he said.
