Pakistan’s prominent poet Jamiluddin Aali passes away

Creator of such classic patriotic songs such as as ‘Jeevay jeevay Pakistan’, ‘Aye watan kay sajeelay jawano’, ‘Mera pegham Pakistan’, Aali was ailing for a long time at his residence in Karachi.

The funeral prayers of the famous poet will be offered tomorrow.

Aali was born on Jan 20, 1925 to Nawab Sir Amiruddin Ahmed Khan of Loharu.

He was the founder member of the Pakistan Writers Guild and remained its secretary. He was also later named secretary general before the Guild was moved to Lahore.


Aali has also written ghazals, poems, lyrical ballads or geets.

He was also elected as a senator.

The government of Pakistan had conferred three awards on Jamiluddin Aali which are President’s Pride of Performance Gold Medal in 1992; Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Urdu Literature) in 2003, and Kamal-i-Funn Award. He was awarded a DLitt by the University of Karachi in 2004.
