Paramedics, doctors clash over LRH hostel possession

PESHAWAR: The paramedical staff of Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar abandoned work and staged protest outside the hospital premises against alleged encroachment of LRH hostel by TMOs and doctors, ARY News reported.

Both the groups – the protesters and the doctors – entered into confrontation over possession claims of hostel building.

The arguments turned into a brawl, prompting police to intervene and baton-charge the protesters. At least six paramedics and a doctor were injured in the scuffles that broke out in the wake of disagreement.

Charged protesters also pelted hospital with stones, shattering glasses of the building. Police also resorted to shelling to disperse protesters.

After a protest that lasted over two hours, the doctors vacated the hostel building.
