PAT leader Umar Riaz Abbasi arrested in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Umar Riaz Abbasi was arrested by the police as he was heading to a court in F-8 area of Islamabad, ARY News reports.

Umar Riaz Abbasi was en-route for a hearing when he was arrested by the police. PAT leader had filed petitions in court challenging the arrest of his party workers.

Awami Tehreek leader Raheeq Abbasi, speaking exclusively with ARY News, condemned the arrest of PAT’s workers and leaders.

He also said that the steps taken by government shows that the rulers are not serious in holding talks with the party. He added that more than 25,000 party workers have been arrested.

Abbasi was released later.
