Naveed Akram Cheema will work as Team Manager of national cricket team for the upcoming tours including the World Cup 2015.

According to PCB sources, the decision has been taken after Moin Khan called on Chairman PCB Shaharyar Khan, Chairman Executive Committee Najam Sethi and COO PCB Mr. Subhan Ahmad to discuss his role on the future cricket tours today.

During the meeting Chairman PCB explained the PCB Governing Board’s decision on doing away with dual roles, and asked Moin to stay on as Chief Selector as part of the squad for the ICC World Cup 2015, which position Moin Khan has accepted.

Commenting on the decision, Chairman PCB said: “Moin has rendered excellent service in his capacity as Team Manager and it is extremely heartening to note that he has agreed to continue to work as Chief Selector.

“It was important for us to not only implement the Board’s decision on dual roles but also to provide continuity in policies; hence, the decision to send him as Chief Selector for the World Cup”, he added.

On the other hand, Moin said “I am pleased with the Board for reposing confidence in my ability and I go along with the decision of the Board on dual roles. My priority is to select a team that has the capability to win the ICC World Cup 2015. Together I hope we would be able to achieve this objective.”

Previously, Cheema has served as team manager for three years soon after the spot fixing case and helped Pakistan to restore its integrity. During his tenure no controversy occurred.
