PEMRA should impose ban on announcing unverified poll results: ECP Secretary

ISLAMABAD: Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Yaqoob Babar  has said that Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) should impose a ban on media channels for announcing unverified election results, ARY News reports.

Yaqoob Babar, presiding a meeting of ECP regarding the arrangements of local bodies elections in Punjab here in Lahore, said that the media channels will not be announcing unverified results and strict action should be suggested those who are violating the code of conduct.

“We cannot understand why the results are announced before hand. This creates problems for the authorities and it should be stopped”, ECP Secretary stated.

Election Commissioner Punjab Masood Malik, District Election Commissioner Shabbar Abbas Bukhari, DCO Lahore Dr. Usman and DRO Tahir Mansoor.
