The petition, filed by Tariq Asad Advocate, states that the proposed commission will probe whether investment in offshore companies were legal or illegal. The investigation panel will inspect assets of all leaders including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who are facing allegations of tax evasion and investing huge amount in offshore companies.
It requested that alongside the premier, all parliamentarians should also be probed who have investments in offshore bank accounts.
The plea urged the court to investgate whether the parliamentarians qualify for artciles 62 and 62 of the Constitution.
“The media trial of PM Sharif should end and judicial commission be tasked with probing this matter,” said the petition.
