Petrol Shortage: PM Nawaz chairs fuel management meeting today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will chair a meeting of Federal Petroleum and Finance ministries on Monday (today) to discuss the petroleum shortage in Punjab, ARY News reports.

Life in Punjab has paralyzed and people have to wait for hours in long queues at petrol stations across the province for fuel due to the shortage.

The prime minister has expressed his anger on the private petrol companies and Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for not keeping the required reserves. He has instructed the concerned authorities to resolve the overdraft issue of Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

PM Nawaz, after returning from his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, had suspended four high-ranking officials including the Secretary Petroleum and Managing Director of PSO after they were held responsible for petrol shortage in the province.

A spokesman of the premier stated that the people responsible for the fuel shortage will be strongly dealt with whereas the government is taking steps to provide relief to the masses.

He assured that the issue will be resolved within couple of days.
