PIA Joint Action Committee had successful talks with the government and the latter postponed national flag carrier’s privatization for six months. However, employees continued their protest that initiated in the mid of last week.
Employees were holding placards inscribed with slogans that privatization of PIA wont be acceptable at all.
PIA spokesperson said the protests were meaningless despite successful talks. Sources informed that the government had taken strict notice of closure of PIA booking offices and pondering to declare PIA as ‘essential service’, which will lead to strict action against anyone disrupting the operations of the national flag carrier.
Following the declaration that is under-consideration, all unions and protests against PIA will be legally prohibited.
The Air League has distanced itself from the protest being held today.
