PIA flight operations set to resume as weeklong strike called off

KARACHI: The joint action committee of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees has announced to end its weeklong strike against possible privatization of the national flag carrier, ARY News reported.

Speaking at a press conference, joint action committee chairman, Captain Sohail Baloch announced to end the strike, which took effect from Feb 2, appealing the staffers to resume duties.

He also urged them to inform the committee in case anyone prevents them from taking charge again.

Baloch said there was no reason to suspend the flight operations further and hoped that with the support of workers the condition of PIA will be improved in next six months.

Sources said that strike was ended following talks with senior government officials.

Captain Sohail Baloch also said that he along with other committee members will be going to Lahore to hold talks with Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif. He also appreciated the role of media during workers protest.
