PIA sends six more employees to home

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Thursday dismissed six more employees as disciplinary action continues within the national flag carrier in the wake of week-long workers’ protest that had brought flight operations to a standstill earlier this month, sources confided to ARY News.

Sources said that letters of the dismissal of six employees of the Engineering Department have been forwarded to concerned officials.

Those terminated from service included assistant engineers Shoaib Anwar and Amjad Ansari.

Trainee engineers Shoaib Salim, Asad Mufti and Naeem Iqbal, and senior technician Rao Naeem were also included in the list of sacked employees.

The ones shown the door had not answered the show-cause notices served to them by the administration, added sources.

The action against PIA employees was taken under PIA Rules and Regulations and the Essential Services Act.

It was further reported that termination letters of dozens of other employees are also in process.
