According to details, the national flag carrier will bear all expenses of the cargo plane which will transport the buffaloes (sent as a present from Sharif brothers to the Emir of Qatar). This means that the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will have to pay fueling, landing and parking charges for the Doha venture by itself. The buffalo pair will be sent as a personal gift from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the Emir however, the payment will be made by the national flag carrier.
According to details, the cargo plane carrying the Sahiwal breed buffalo pair will depart for Doha tomorrow. The gift has been sent as a token of thanks to the Qatar Emir for agreeing to the LNG deal with Pakistan for low rates.
A couple of weeks ago, PIA employees had gone on a countrywide strike against the government in protest against its privatisation. The government had responded with austere measures, including the Essential Services Maintenance Act to force the employees to return to their jobs. The employees finally ended their strike and resumed their jobs.
