Azeem was heading the Aviation Division before tendering his resignation on December 14, 2015.

He stepped down following a Supreme Court (SC) observation that barred him from participation in the affairs of Aviation Division after a petition filed by pilots’ union challenging his appointment.

A spokesman for him, at the time of resignation, told that Shujaat Azeem held the post as an honor and didn’t receive salary or perks.

His resignation was since then pending approval by the prime minister.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on continued request of Shujaat Azeem accepted the resignation today relieving him of responsibilities as adviser on Aviation.
