PM chairs Balochistan Apex Committee meeting

QUETTA: A meeting of the Balochistan Apex Committee at Governor House Quetta was chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday to review the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism in the province, ARY News reported.

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt. Gen Rizwan Akhtar, Governor Balochistan Mohammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Dr. Malik Baloch and other top officials attended the meeting.

Speaking in the meeting the prime minister said it is the government’s responsibility to ensure implementation of National Action Plan to curb the menace of terrorism and extremism from the country.

According to sources, provincial Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani, briefed the meeting about the implementation of the NAP and overall law and order situation in Balochistan.

The meeting was informed that Balochistan has referred 53 cases of terrorism to military courts for trial.

Security has been stepped up in provincial capital due to presence of the top civilian and military leadership in the city.
