PM chairs meeting on internal security, US Visit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high level meeting here on Friday to discuss internal security and the regional situation, ARY News reported.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif and other top officials attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed overall security situation, the agenda of the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit of the United States, the peace efforts in Afghanistan and other issues.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of Zarb-e-Azb operation and the ongoing operation for maintenance of law and order in Karachi.

Nuclear Talks

According to media reports, the White House has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and US President Barack Obama will discuss the nuclear issue in their meeting.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will reach Washington on Oct 20 for a White House meeting with United States President Obama on Oct 22.

The US media reports have claimed that during the visit the United States may offer a civil nuclear deal, like the one with India, to Sharif that may pave the way for Pakistan’s acceptance in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
