PM chairs meeting to discuss national security, Saudi-Iran row

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday presided over a meeting to discuss national security and tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran, ARY News reported.

The meeting was attended by federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, National Security Advisor Nasser Khan Janjua and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhary.

The meeting likely to discuss the tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran after execution of a Shia cleric in the country.

Saudi Arabian Foriegn Minister Adil Al-Jubair arriving Islamabad today to meet with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz and other government officials.

The Saudi Foreign Minister is expected to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international situation. Al-Jubair’s visit will also discuss Pakistani officials about inclusion of the country into a coalition of 34 Islamic countries.
