PM directs attorney general to challenge suspension of Kisan Package in SC

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the Attorney General to file a petition in Supreme Court against the suspension of certain provisions that facilitate farmers in the Kissan package after the Election Commission’s decision.

The Prime Minister said that the Kissan package is for the farmers of entire country and is not specific to any region.

He said that the government is working to protect farmers’ rights without any political or regional bias.

Meanwhile, he PM also approved in principle the establishment of Agricultural Research Endowment Fund for enhancing agriculture research to maximize produce.

He was chairing a meeting on issues faced by the agricultural sector and facilitation to farmers in Islamabad.

He noted that the farmer community throughout the country is suffering due to non-implementation of Kisan package.
