PM Nawaz chairs emergency meeting on rain disaster

ISLAMABAD: Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired an emergency meeting here on Saturday to discuss the situation after a devastative spell of monsoon rains, ARY News reported.

The meeting was attended by Information Minister Pervez Rashid, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Secretary Cabinet Division Mr. Akhlaq Ahmad Tarar and Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Major Gen Muhammad Saeed Aleem.

Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Major Gen Muhammad Saeed Aleem briefed the prime minister on the destruction caused by rains and flooding in several areas.

The premier directed the NDMA to assess the losses in devastating rainfall.

He also directed for clearance of all major highways and road links, which have been cut off due to heavy rains to speed up the relief work in the calamity hit regions.

Nawaz Sharif said that every possible help will be extended to the victims of rainfall and flooding.
