PM Nawaz, Kerry discuss regional security situation

LONDON: US Secretary of State John Kerry held a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of London Conference on Afghanistan.

They discussed matters of mutual interest and regional situation.

The Prime Minister also discussed with the Secretary of State the regional situation and successful ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb and said 80 per cent of the area has been cleared of miscreants and the operation will continue till their complete elimination.

The PM said Pakistan’s intensive anti-terrorism cooperation and efforts for regional peace and security need to be better recognised by the international community.

He said a stable, prosperous and democratic Afghanistan was in Pakistan’s best interest and said his country looks forward to having a good working relationship with the new Afghan government.

Secretary Kerry acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution and sacrifices in the war on terror.
